Emily DeschanelIt's really amazing that I never go into Bones. I majored in Anthropology in college and one of my favorite classes in college was the bones class, where our exams consisted of several bone fragments placed around the room, which we had to identify. To throw us off, our teacher would always throw in some Homo habilis or Australopithecus afarensis remains just to keep us sharp.

I recently started watching Bones, and I can't believe I was holding out so long. Now, for those of you who are fans of CSI: Everything , it probably doesn't break any ground. In fact, the way it is set up, it finds a way to copy CSI, Cold Case, and Criminal Minds all at once. The more I watch it, the more I am starting to crush on Temprance Brennan. She's a genius, and goes about her work without caring if people like her or her social skills. And if anybody has a problem with her, she can most likely kick their ass. I wish I could say I was only interested in her brain, but Emily Deschanel is a great part of the appeal. I'm not sure what makes her so attractive to me, but it's probably the voice.

Emily is not the only hottie on the show. Michaela Conlin has a bit of a Fraggle-ish face, but her character has a lot of spunk, and she made it out of Allentown, so she gets my vote. I also have a really serious jones for Tamara Taylor, who plays Camille Saroyan, perhaps more than Ms. Deschanel, but since Tamara's married and it's Emily's show Temprance gets the headline.

ana-paula-olympics-2008.jpgThe Olympics are now over, and other than the disaster that was the men and women's 4X100 meter relay teams, there was a lot of excitement. China suppressed freedom of the press, but that is really no surprise. After getting jobbed by the ten-year-olds, our women's gymnastics team came out with the most medals. Michael Phelps won 8 gold medals and probably secured an endorsement from Charmin after we learned he eat more than 12,000 calories a day. Our women's softball team getting silver was a huge upset, but the women playing won the gold. The men's indoor volleyball overcame great tragedy to win a gold medal and I was able to enjoy more HD women's beach volleyball than I could handle. Most importantly, our NBA playes beat those whiny, slightly racist pussies of the Spanish basketball team in the only gold medal that I really cared about.

Overall, I really enjoyed the last couple of weeks. NBC did a very good job by making a ton of their Olympic content available online. They also used USA, MSNBC, and CNBC effectively, which is much better than that pay-per-view crap we had to deal with not so long ago. Plenty of it was in glorious HD, but there are some things I think NBC could have done better.

Around the time of the Olympics, this site had a ton of traffic. The load was so heavy, I got an e-mail from my web host saying I was taking up 80% of the server load before they had to shut down parts of the site. Considering I post about once a month, this sort of had me puuzzled as to what could have happened.

Some people blamed Bia and Branca, but that was actually not the case. The problem was with Amanda Beard and her cameltoe. That post about Speedo's LZR racer swimsuit shot my blog to the top of the "amanda beard cameltoe" search rankings in google. During the Olympics, this search went way up for some reason, with thousands of people killing my server looking for it.

Well, I cleaned up some of the peformance problems, but then there was a javascript bug that was causing IE to crash with a "Operation Aborted" error. Thanks to the suckitude that is IE, there was no more explanation. Many people once again blamed Bia and Branca because it happened after I posted all of those pictures of them. Well, it is kind of their fault, because the problem was Lightbox2, which I implemented only in response to posting their pictures. A small search put the problem in the Lightbox 2.0.4 library, and the solution was to downgrade to Lightbox 2.0.3. So, things should be working now.

Now back to our regularly scheduled lack of posting.

I'm not sure what started me thinking about Swedish Fish this morning, but I do know that it has been a long time since I've had one. I was never really a huge fan of candy when I was a kid (Mom had the gall to suggest things like sliced apples for snacks), but I do remember how much I loved Swedish Fish. When I was handing out chocolates on V-day, I only hoped for some swedish fish (and perhaps 15 minutes at the back of the movie theater on Friday night) in return. Good times.

bia-branca-feres.jpgI am a sports nut, and so I love the Olympics. It's great to see the amazing amounts of athleticism on display from all over the world. There is also bound to be a good human interest story or two (or hundred) in there as well. NBC is trying to bring us as much of the Olympics as we can handle, much of it in HD. Combined with my love of beach volleyball, this makes for a very interesting summer, to say the least.

Well, Brazil has decided to turn it up a notch and bring us Bia and Branca Feres. As you can see, they seem to be playing in a pretty good gene pool. Let's run down the checklist:

  • Brazilian - check
  • Hot - check
  • TWINS?! - check
  • Revealing photos coming out just before the start of the Olympics, guaranteeing maximum exposure? - check

As you know, I prefer brunettes, but perhaps I can make a exception in this case. Bia and Branca are synchronized swimmers, which means that we will probably only see them on 4AM on the Oxygen Network, but if there is a God (or anybody with half a brain at NBC), we'll get to see them in HD eventually.

More pictures of these two after the break. SFW, unless you work with people who hate beauty.

Of the two former founders of TVgasm, one of us ismaking a blogging splash once again, while yours truly can barely find enough time for a post a month. And while most of the world isn't exactly holding its' breath for me to find inspiration, I have enough traffic that people are submitting me things. So, here we have it, my frist submission! A license plate advertising blog.tv, which features videos and photos and ... blogs!
There are a lot of awful movie trailer spoofs out there. I have to give props to Steve Nash and Baron Davis for this one.
I had to listen to this commercial ten times before I realized that it was actually an extraordinary nut "snack".

wang-injured.jpgEarlier this year, I was really pleased at how well one of my favorite Yankees, Chien Ming Wang was performing, even as the rest of the Yankees were for the most part shitting the bed. Well, karma bit me in the ass. The Yankees continued to suck, and teams even started slapping Wang up a little bit. I stopped writing about Wang (and, at all) even though there were many times I felt like making the obvious Wang jokes. More recently, the Yankees are on a roll, but Wang was injured rounding the bases in Houston. He hopes to return by September. In the meantime, we have to hope the Yankees offense, which has suddenly found some life, is able to carry us for a little while longer. For the now, the Yankees are playing hard without Wang, but let's hope he gets better sooner rather than later.
