Thanks for all the good memories Yankee Stadium and I want to thank the good Lord for making me a Yankee fan.
As I sit here wallowing in self-pity because the Yankees are not going to make the playoffs, I am reminded that sometimes just being in the game is all you need. This blog, DFL, is dedicated to the last place finishers of the Olympics. You probably didn't see any of them on TV, but for they are still celebrated in their country. Take Franka Magali, who comes from my home country. She was the last-place finisher in her 100 meter heat in Beijing, and yet life went on for her. So why we may laugh at the people who fall and fail, it's a victory for some to show up, even when their lives may be threatened at home. Of course all of this goodwill will go away as soon as football starts tomorrow, but the feeling is nice while it lasts.
Now that it looks like the American taxpayers are going to go into debt to save the world economy, we might as well get used to some of our new assets. AIG, the insurance company the taxpayers own, was the main sponsor for Manchester United one of the top teams in the EPL and one of the most popular and successful football clubs in the world. The English love Man U even though the principal owner group are American. And now we are in a perfect position to piss off the English a little more by reminding them just how much us colonials are now responsible for their crown jewel. Therefore, I say we create a new logo to put on the United kits.
The 2008 NFL season is underway and it will be really hard to beat the way the 2007 season ended. If I was an asshole, I would use the next couple of lines to make fun of how Tom Brady is gone for the season and say that it is payback for all the times the Pats ran up the score last year, but I am more mature than that. Besides, we have more important things to talk about, like my fantasy football teams and how many of my football man crushes I was able to acquire.
I am in three fantasy leagues this year, and I have some good news to report. I was able to draft number one man crush, Adrian Peterson, in two of my leagues! In my Fraternity league, which I don't play for money, but carries the most bragging rights, I also picked up first-tier man crush candidates Brandon Jacobs and as well as second tier man crush Donovan McNabb. This team is actually pretty good, and I think I have a good chance of winning.
In B-side's league I have Peterson as well as Plaxico Burress and McNabb. His league is always wide open, so I have a good shot here as well.
That brings me to my third league, which is a pay league that I won last year, and the results are not so great. First of all, no man crushes except for LJ Smith, but as a back-up tight-end, he is not going to affect my outcome very much. In this league, it looks like my decision to believe Seattle's offense could make Matt Hasselback a decent play is really going to bite me in the ass. I have Clinton Portis and Maurice Jones-Drew, but I am going to have a tough time repeating.

...Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, f***** up brats you woke up one day and made look stupid...

I personally don't see why so many people love Kim Kardashian. But really, she seems to make Reggie Bush happy, so why should I care? I do think that she could have perhaps put a little more time into making this good luck sign. B-side did a better job with his Can't Beat Santana sign during a game between the J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets, and the Chargers a few years back. Judging by the haphazard assortment of fonts and colors, it seems like she stopped and started a few times, and settled on this design, complete with an oddly placed nipple in the middle of the "O". I'm starting to think she bought it off some 8 year-old Saints fan fifteen minutes before the game.
On top of that, she was sitting in a luxury box, so perhaps if she wanted the love of her life to see the sign during the game and not while he is watching the highlights on Sportscenter, she would try to make it a little closer to the field. Then again, the Saints won the game, so maybe her strategy is working out just fine.
