Maybe I Should Take Up Acting Again...
People that know me would probably never guess that I used to be all about the drama. As in the theatre. OK, I was never really all about the drama, but whenever I enrolled in summer camp, I always took the theater class. It was fun, and the straight guy to girl ration was always in my favor. I probably didn't think about those things back then, but in retrospect, I was clearly ahead of my time. I recently got a hold of a few pictures of my old thespian days from the mother of a good friend of mine. The answers to many of your questions like "Who is that hottie you're holding hands with?" are yours if you just click ahead....
Here is the first picture (click for larger image). As you can see, it is me and a bunch of girls, demonstrating the excellent ratio I was talking about earlier. Before you think that weird vests were in style among the adolescents in upstate NY of the time, you should know that many of the girls were still in costume. I think we did two or three plays that year. One of them was My Darling Clementine (or something like that) and the other one was "The Wiz". I forgot what role I had in the My Darling Clementine, but I was the Cowardly Lion in "The Wiz" and nobody beat me...nobody. Thankfully there are no pictures from that.
So, who is that girl with the California shirt that I am holding hands with? None other than my good friend Katie Cazorla. Really! I know she looks a lot different now, but before we got together for TVgasm and the Katie Show, our parents stuffed us both in the same summer camp hoping to keep us out of trouble. As for that random green smudge on the photo? Katie gave me these pictures when we had sushi yesterday, so I think that is some stray wasabi. Oops!
Here is a scene from the clementine play. You should know that this required singing and a little dancing. I am rocking quite the mean flannel and corduroys. The other girl is Catherine Winner. I know you all love that mean fro I was rocking. You see, my ears were so big back then, whenever my hair was cropped close, my loving family would call me dumbo. I once wore a Yankees batting helmet all summer when I was five or six because I was so traumatized.
And here is a good scene with Katie. As you can see, even then she showed great emotion in her acting. And yes, that's her natural hair color. What I couldn't figure out was why they had this black and white photograph of Richard Greico hanging up in the classroom.

awww. It's so cute to see you and Katie as young'uns! Thanks for sharing!
jojo - you were so handsome even back then.
And Katie is hilarious. She is a born entertainer.
For some reason the two of you remind me of 'Beaches' with the kids friendship for life thing.
