There are a lot of awful movie trailer spoofs out there. I have to give props to Steve Nash and Baron Davis for this one.
Surely you all remember the incomparable Nick Walsh, better known as TVgasm intern version 1.0 and creator of his own comic book series starring none other than the great Julie Chen. Nick has been in Los Angeles for awhile, and I keep on meaning to go hiking at Fryman Canyon with him, but for now enjoy his latest effort Face the News. I'm getting a little too old, so it is perhaps a little too meta for me, but if you dig Facebook, you should check it ou.
I know that it's not the trendy thing to support giant media conglomerates in their attempt to bring web video to the masses, but I thoroughly enjoy Hulu.com, the new web video site brought to you by the folks at NBC and FOX. I know that I would be much cooler if I was up with the latest "viral" videos on the internet, but so what. I might be signing over more of my life to watch Hulu, but it does give me content that I would actually watch, with good quality, and limited commercials (about 2-4 minutes for full episodes, and maybe 15 seconds per video clip). What I am sick of is the low quality and unoriginal shit I find elsewhere (I get it, you're 9 years old and are an expert at Guitar Hero thanks). Increasingly, the good content is becoming viral and more revenue driven anyway.

Hulu gives me the ability to embed full episodes of the shows they have on their site. Here I give you Season 1, Episode 3 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I love it because it gives us a good look at Cordelia, and I do love Charisma Carpenter, although not quite as much as I love SMG. Hulu is by no means perfect, and although they have lots of high quality content, they will need to work on making sure there is as much new content as possible every single week. If they don't continue adding seasons to their back catalog, people will get bored with what they have. It has to be more than a way to sell DVDs, and if they ever want to reign supreme, they will need to find a way to make that content portable and get it to your television. But that is the problem for NBC and FOX. Until then, I'll enjoy the freebies while they last, and move on to the next thing when Hulu begins to suck. But with all those episodes of Remington Steele available, that may be a long way off.

Kissing Suzy Kolber is a nice little sports blog. If you don't get what is funny about the name of the blog, don't worry. The blog is pretty good for anybody who like people with foul-mouthed sports-ish senses of humor. KSK is usually pretty funny, usually fairly original, and they hate Red Sox almost as much as I do. They posted this video of a hilarious (minus awful Indian stereotype) Marlboro commercial advertising the NFL in 1959, but make sure to check out this week's Mock Draft: Websites We'd Like to See Experience Permanent Tech Support Problems. I won't spoil the whole thing, but the first pick went to Perez Hilton. My vote? With a tactical 12-guage, if available.

smallish_oscars-guide-los-angeles.jpgA few more posts over at Gridskipper for you to enjoy. Check out my guide to seafood in the 626 along with a primer on the "second string" sports teams of Los Angeles. The highlight, of course, is my Oscars Guide to Los Angeles. Enjoy!

exaco.jpgI saw this site linked to from another blog and I immediately fell in love. This sort of completely worthless analysis of everyday objects is the type of thing I really enjoy. I always pass this check-cashing place on my way to the gym, and you can tell it used to be a KFC on the outside. I never took a picture, but always thought it was hilarious and literally thought to myself, "Do they think people won't notice they are getting their checks cashed from the colonel?".

Anyway, http://www.notfoolinganybody.com/ holds many examples of "bad conversions of storefronts past" including the picture included above, which is also on my way to the gym. Yes, Exaco. And they don't sell gas which really makes you wonder why they used the name. It looks like the site has gone stale, even if the front pages says something different. Still amusing though, and I'll be looking for more bad conversions wherever I go.

dating-in-the-hills-los-angeles.jpgMake sure to check out my latest at Gridskipper, where I talk about lunch in Beverly Hills and dating venues from The Hills.

I love how efficient the Japanese are. Here, they demonstrate how one can "learn" English and do aerobics at the same time.

One of the best parts about having your own web site, especially for geeks like me who love stats, is, well, the stats. It's really amazing to see where your traffic comes from, and how people are finding their way to your website. My search referrals are very interesting, but I wanted to first highlight the people that give me the most traffic. Sadly, it's not really about anything I write, but that's OK, because I haven't been writing here very much and the stuff I talk about is mundane. No, the people who are using my traffic the most are the people who link to my images from other places on the Internet. When I started and ran TVgasm, this really bothered me, because it was lost traffic and lost money. Nowadays, I don't expect this blog to make me money, so I don't care. The reward comes by looking at the people who link to your images and imagining what their lives are like. For a few months this summer, my site was the first listed when somebody did a google image search for "grey goose" or "grey goose vodka", and I continue to reap the rewards.

And I of course just had to share with you.

Haven't done a Gridskipper update in a while. Some articles you may be interested in include Los Angeles Dog Parks, Unwarranted Door Policies, and Breakfast in West Hollywood. I think I am going to do some full reviews on some of the breakfast places because I wasn't able to give a lot of them the justice they deserve in the space alloted.

Hey everybody, I know I haven't updated in a while, but I wanted to mention that our friend Katie has a new episode of her talk show posted on YouTube. Highlights include a Hollywood makeover and a shopping trip with Victoria Beckham. Enjoy!

As you know, I gave in and joined myspace.com a little while ago. I've decided that all of my attempts to insulate myself from social networking take more effort than actually being in social networking. Faux anonymity be damned! I'm going all in. This probably means facebook, flickr, and any other number of Web 2.0 (or 3.0) efforts out there. One thing I do like is twitter because it requires little effort and I can update using a text message from any cell phone. If you have any social networking recommendations, please feel free to leave a comment. If you ever need to send me an e-mail the address is mokers@ my domain name.

I usually don't post too many videos from youtube because I figure that everybody else has already seen them and I don't want to demonstrate my lack of pop trendiness to the masses. But I'll break all rules for the Obama Girl.

After the hit I Have a Crush on Obama, the minds behind Obama Girl have released Obama Girl vs. Giuliani Girl. Some may see these videos as silly, but I really think that this type of video really speaks to a part of the population that has been difficult to reach with any sort of debate. It really begins a conversation on the subjects that really matter: Which candidate has supporters who look the best wearing hot pants?

So who wins? Obama girl has the curves, but Giuliani Girl has the more natural figure. Advantage: Giuliani Girl (unless Obama Girl wasn't enhanced). Then again, Giuliani Girl has that Scar Spice ca. 1997 hair and Obama Girl has the sort of raven locks that have always turned me on. Advantage: Obama Girl. Finally Obama Girl loves the half-black guy, and Giuliani Girl wants to jump on the bones of somebody who is losing his hair. Advantage: Push - I clearly have an interest in both camps.

I guess I'll vote for...more videos with girls in hot pants!

I've joined myspace. At this pace, I'll be on facebook by 2010 or so.

Please forgive me...and be my friend.

champage-brunch.jpgAnother post over at Gridskipper. I do plan on increasing the frequency at some point. I may even come up with a more creative name for when I post.

Champagne Brunch in Los Angeles.
