Secret Santa
For some mystery reason, I suck at buying gifts. OK, there is no mystery. I suck at buying gifts because in general I don't like spending a lot of time shopping. I always want to be thoughtful with my giving, but I usually end up buying a person a gift certificate unless I know exactly what they want. If I am forced to put too much thought into it, I will continually fret over whether the other person will like the gift, and I don't need the stress because I really do need to keep as much of my hair as possible. Anyway, I need some help buying a gift for my department's Secret Santa/white elephant game. Somebody out there has to have a good suggestion.

I plan to get one myself, someday.
You can never go wrong with a nice smelly candle.
A nice framed autographed picture of yourself. I can't tell you how many people I have given this to. They always enjoy the audacity.

A DVD of "The Godfather" and a bottle of Chianti. If alcohol is frowned upon then put in a box of pasta and a jar of Prego.
A Chia herb garden. Californians LOVE herbs!
Beer
Booze, booze, booze.
Maybe it's just my family.
I think booze is going to win.
As long as your recipient is a drinker, I think a lovely basket of assorted airplane sized bottled of liquor make a great gift. You never know when you're going to need a mini, and it's so nice to have one right there in the purse, the glove compartment, the desk drawer, etc.
the liquor stores in PA used to sell candy cane shaped containers with an assortment of mini-bottles in them. It was a popular Secret Santa gift in my sorority house.
